⚡ What changed in the New Tax Regime for AY 2026-27?

The Standard Deduction for salaried employees under the New Regime (Sec 115BAC) is ₹75,000 (up from ₹50,000). Taxable income up to ₹7,00,000 continues to enjoy a full Section 87A tax rebate, meaning zero net tax liability for salaried individuals with gross income up to ₹7.75 Lakhs under the New Regime.

📅 Who is required to pay Advance Tax for FY 2026-27?

Under Section 208, any taxpayer whose estimated net tax liability after TDS/TCS exceeds ₹10,000 must pay advance tax in 4 quarterly installments: 15% by 15th June, 45% by 15th Sept, 75% by 15th Dec, and 100% by 15th March. Failure attracts mandatory 1% monthly interest under Section 234B & 234C.

💼 Who can opt for Freelancer Section 44ADA?

Section 44ADA applies to specified resident professionals—including software consultants, web developers, doctors, lawyers, interior designers, and architects—with gross receipts up to ₹75 Lakhs (provided cash receipts do not exceed 5%). You declare flat 50% as taxable profit, saving yourself from maintaining books of accounts and statutory tax audits.

🏠 How is HRA Exemption calculated under Section 10(13A)?

Exempt HRA is the minimum of three statutory conditions: (1) Actual HRA received from employer, (2) Actual rent paid minus 10% of basic salary + DA, or (3) 50% of salary for metro cities (Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai) or 40% of salary for non-metro cities. Note: HRA exemption is available only under the Old Tax Regime.
